About
PopupNinja is a small iOS app whose only job is to host a Safari web extension that hides JavaScript-generated blocking overlays.
What it is
Pages often cover themselves with an app-install sheet, a dimmed gate, or a scroll-locked modal. Those are not pop-up windows. They are extra HTML drawn by scripts after load, which is why built-in and classic popup blockers have a hard time with them. PopupNinja looks for that overlay pattern and hides it so the page underneath can scroll again.
What it is not
- Not a replacement browser or a general-purpose ad blocker.
- Not affiliated with the sites you visit.
- Not an account, chat, feed, or tracker.
How rules work
The extension ships with overlay catalogs you can search in the app. Each rule is data: a CSS selector, optional text to match, and actions such as hide or remove. The engine never runs downloaded JavaScript. You choose which catalogs to enable. Load latest rules then downloads JSON only for those sites. If a site is missing, use Request a new rule.
